The CND Cymru Team
Originally from Bridgend, Brian studied Maths at Bath University, and for his placement year worked at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell. He has been involved in anti-nuclear weapons and power campaigns ever since, and with other progressive campaigns. He is a trustee of renewable energy charity Awel Aman Tawe, and a director of their community owned wind farm, Awel.
Jill was a Plaid Cymru councillor in the Rhondda on Mid-Glamorgan County Council and Rhondda Cynon Taff Council before being elected as a Member of the European Parliament for Wales in 1999. She was re-elected four times and was an MEP until 2020 when the UK left the European Union.
Jill was Chair of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament Cymru and is now Vice-Chair. She is a member of Heddwch Nain/Mamgu (Our Grandmothers’ Peace), formed to mark the 2024 centenary of the Welsh Women’s Peace Petition to the women of the United States, and to work to realise the aims of the women a century ago. She is Vice-Chair of Academi Heddwch Cymru, Wales’s peace institute.
Michael Freeman has been involved in campaigns against nuclear weapons and power since 1977 when the Preseli Anti-nuclear group was established, one of many in Wales at that time. He has been membership secretary of CND Cymru since 2008 and treasurer since 2009.
Former CND Cymru National Secretary, Jill Gough has campaigned and taken direct action for peace and nuclear disarmament for most of her life. Previously CND Cymru magazine “Heddwch” editor and press secretary for 30 years, she now organises communications with members, supporters and campaigners nationally and internationally through the CND Cymru facebook page and twitter feed.
Linda Rogers lives in Ynys Môn. She has worked in Theatre in Education and as a teacher in London and in Wales. She is convenor of the Bangor & Ynys Môn Peace and Justice group, and has been active in anti-nuclear campaigns, visiting Fukushima and the ICAN Paris conference.
Dylan Lewis-Rowlands is from Cwm Cynon, and now lives in Aberystwyth. He has been CND Cymru's press and communications officer since September 2022, and National Secretary since June 2023. A dedicated socialist and trade unionist, Dylan works for a future safer for all.
Ali has been active in the peace movement since 1969, including at Greenham Common, taking part in a variety of actions trying to bring peace to the world. Ali is an artist whose work reflects on the impact of war. She lives in Cardiff, having lived and worked in various countries of the world, where she worked for decades on access to justice for women.
